Tether and Reel system info.
The Standard AC-ROV single case system is supplied with tether and a hand reel sized for either of the following options
- 40m x 9.3mm diameter – 4 g/m negative in seawater and 6 g/m negative in freshwater
- 56m x half and half – 28m x 9.3 at the AC-ROV & 28m x 6.3mm to the surface
- 80m x 6.3mm diameter – 27 g/m negative in seawater and 28 g/m negative in freshwater
Points to note:
- The maximum length of tether is 120m. Any more and voltage losses will compromise performance
- The tether is only water proof when connected to the Control Box or when the connector cap is fitted
- The underwater grade tether cable is custom manufactured for the AC-ROV and comes with a buoyancy jacket,
which neutralises its weight in seawater. The buoyancy jacket can be stripped off but it cannot be put back on
- The User should arrange alternative buoyancy or ballast attachments to aid system deployment
- The Standard AC-ROV hand reel will not store more than the above options – 80m, 40m or 56m
- The connector, crank handle and up to 2m of tether tail will stow inside the reel bore for packing
- The hand crank is off-set for ease of operation. The crank can be worked outside the transit case
with the reel still inside in the case.
- Adjust the drum retard friction by tighten or loosening the centre screw whilst holding the locknut
