The AC-ROV has the highest power to size ratio of any submersible in its class. Combined with full bore, unrestricted flow through the multiple thrusters means that it also has an enviable power to thrust ratio. The ROV itself can operate in light currents up to 0.7kt [0.36m/sec]
Like all small tethered ROVs, cable drag can restrict performance.
This is best tackled with a little pre-dive planning:
- Try and get as close to and up current from the target as possible
- Set an anchor weight or a buoyancy block on the tether a distance back from the AC-ROV to help counteract these drag loads
- Stripping off the yellow tether jacket between the AC-ROV and the weight/buoyancy block will further reduce tether drag affects on the AC-ROV
