The 73Fifty DVR Peli uses standard video recording formats which are regulated by governing bodies - not individual companies like Microsoft.  We champion the use of MPEG2 as the video recording format.

Thanks to the huge popularity of DVD movies (which also MPEG2) we can be assured that this format will remain supported in mainstream products for at least 10 years with specialist companies continuing to support after that.
